OPENING DAY OF THE 2014 MARKET SEASON

Saturday, May 3rd at 8:00am is the opening day of the 2014 farmers market season. We will kick off the market season with a Complimentary hot dog lunch which will consist of a hot dog, chips, cookies, and bottled water. We will start serving lunch at 10:00am.

It’s that time of year again at the Jacksonville, AL Farmers Market to “Buy Fresh, Buy Local”. The best produce is fresh, locally grown, and the Jacksonville, AL Farmers Market is home to some of the best food producers and farmers in North East Alabama. The seasonal market draws in farmers from several different counties as well as bakers, flower gardeners, and artisans. At the market, you will find traditionally and naturally grown seasonal produce, honey, canned goods, baked goods, tamales, fry bread, herbal soap, cheese, home churned ice cream, potted herbs, potted plants, seedlings, concrete yard art, birdhouses, and bird feeders. We started this market in 2010 with the idea of “Helping Feed Our Community” with the best food available.

The Jacksonville Farmers Market is run predominately by volunteer citizens who present the market in an exciting and beneficial way. The market focuses on providing quality produce and goods by serving the residents of this area in a way that enhances their quality of life.

Thee market dates and times are Saturdays, May 3rd-November 1st from 8:00am-12:00pm and Mondays, June 2nd-September 1st from 4:00pm-6:00pm. The market is located behind Roma’s on the Jacksonville Square. Some farmers are accepting Credit Cards, Debit Cards, EBT Cards (supplemental nutritional food program), and Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Vouchers. If you would like more information in regards to the market, you may contact Marlan Preuninger, Market Manager, at 256-454-0730 or LuAnn Billings at 256-525-0202.
